• Litera Meat continues to operate maximising all precautions to address this exceptional situation caused by COVID-19
Litera Meat, 23 March 2020
“We are taking very strict measures to prevent any risks,” stated the Director of the Quality, Food Safety and Environmental Issues Department of Litera Meat, Carlos Gaspar, who has taken charge of supervising himself the new actions implemented this week. Aside from the ordinary cleaning and disinfection operations, fumigation of the different zones and common areas, such as the cloakrooms, the dining rooms or the different access points to the premises and buildings, is being carried out. “We will adopt the necessary measures to reinforce prevention and the protection of all the people at Litera Meat,” affirmed Carlos Gaspar.
Amid this uncertain situation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has set forth an official statement explaining that “agricultural, livestock and aquaculture production, veterinary centres or clinics, transport and distribution of food, as well as its retail selling to consumers are part of the food supply chain, which must be kept uninterrupted in this state-of-alert situation. This means that, not only the operations of agri-food enterprises as a whole, including agricultural, livestock and aquaculture production and fishing activities, but also those of the enterprises which in turn supply the necessary materials for their operations must be continued.”
During the current state of alert, the Spanish Inter-Professional Agri-Food Organization for White Pork (INTERPORC) has spoken publicly, highlighting the importance of the work of the pork industry, which against all odds must continue to operate to guarantee the supply to consumers.
